Caged like a Dog

Description

One of the three gray wolves at Wildlife Images. He was so sweet looking, but kinda sad. He was like a little puppy looking for his owner.

Most of the animals mope a lot. Probably because the tour guide knows squat about them, so all she could say was "I don't know anything, so I can't go into detail on each animal. I'm just a volunteer. Okay, so over here you'll see a huge fenced area. Here are the gray wolves. Now, even the white ones are gray wolves. Please keep all children away from the electrical fences. Any questions? Yes? I don't know what the difference between a wolf and a dog is, but I can assure you it's a huge difference." By the way, 3 little kids asked about a hundred questions per animal which was the only way we got any photo time. Picture taking may be encouraged there, but that tour guide acted like we only had 10 seconds to see the "permanent residents". (The point of the tour is to see the permanent residents which are the animals that cannot be returned to the wild, so they're the only ones we'd see anyway. I'm still not sure why that tour guide had to point out the obvious every time we saw an animal when everyone knew the actual refuge part took place where only vets and volunteers can go.) I love that place, but next time I'm demanding a tour rather than a walkthrough.

A bit lengthy for my point, but I only got clear pictures of the birds. :/ Everywhere else someone's head or a fence was in the way or there wasn't even time. Naturally, I'm disappointed. (My last visit was very nice, but my camera died. This year, I had a new camera and enough batteries to live there for a few days)

I'll only add this: Wildlife Images is awesome and they do a wonderful job of rescuing animals. Their cause is worthy of applause. I'm going to shut up now...
